South Westshore Townhomes

Project Overview
In June 2014, McNeal Engineering embarked on our South Westshore Townhomes project with their client, Icon Real Estate Ventures. The primary goal of this long-term undertaking was to design and secure the necessary permits for a brand-new residential townhouse development. After several years of dedicated work, MEI successfully completed their portion of the project in November 2021.
The development required a significant transformation of the existing property. Initially, the site was already developed and occupied by older office and warehouse buildings. By the time the project reached completion, the space had been completely revitalized into a modern residential community featuring 10 distinct townhome buildings that house a total of 33 units.
During the design and permitting phase, the team encountered a notable obstacle: the site lacked sufficient room for traditional stormwater infrastructure. To overcome this spatial limitation, the team achieved a major win by designing an innovative underground stormwater system. They successfully permitted this subterranean infrastructure, which effectively treats and attenuates runoff without sacrificing valuable surface area for the new homes.
